Bank of America "Dream Makers" Scholarship Award

The Dream Makers Scholarship was established through a generous contribution of $1 million from NationsBank (now Bank of America) and matched equally by the State of Florida. The earnings from the $2,000,000 endowment are awarded to first-generation students to cover tuition, books, fees and childcare.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida awarded a $2.500,000 gift to establish a Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship fund. With matching funds from the 2004 State Legislature, the $5,000,000 endowment will provide scholarships for 200 students annually in perpetuity. The first distribution of the scholarship were awarded in the spring 2006 to 265 students.

Ethics in Business Scholarship Fund

Ethics in Business Scholarship Fund The Ethics in Business Scholarship Program provided assistance to undergraduate college students who are enrolled at community colleges. Scholarships are funded by private and state contributions. Awards are dependent on private matching funds to each community college. The Office of Student Financial Assistance informs the Foundation how much is available by late summer or early fall of each year.

Helios Education First Generation in College Scholarship

The Helios Education Foundation gave a gift of $5,000,000 that created an endowment to provide scholarships for first-generation in college students. The income from this endowment will be disbursed annually to all 28 community college foundations each July. This gift is eligible for a full match under the Dr. Philip Benjamin Matching Program in February 2007 creating a $10,000,000 endowment. The endowment will exist in perpetuity as an endowment to fund scholarships in future academic years.

Medallion Scholars (Bright Futures Program)

The 2006 Florida Legislature amended section 1009.535, Florida Statute; beginning fall 2006, Florida Medallion Scholars who choose to attend a Florida public community college may receive an award of 100% of their tuition and fees for college credit courses leading toward an associate degree.
