District English Language Learner (ELL) Plan
Assurances and Certification
The school district shall provide for Equal Educational Opportunity to National Origin Minority/ELL Students.
The school district shall comply with:
- The requirements of the Title VI and VII Civil Rights Act of 1964.
- The requirements of the Office of Civil Rights memorandum of May 25, 1970 (Standards for Title VI compliance).
- The requirements based on the Supreme Court decision of Lau v. Nichols, 1974.
- The requirements of the Equal Educational Opportunities Act of 1974.
- The requirements of the Vocational Education Guidelines, 1979.
- The requirements based on the Fifth Circuit Court decision of Castañeda v. Pickard, 1981.
- The requirements based on the Supreme Court decision of Plyler v. DOE, 1982.
- The requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (PL 94-142).
- The requirements of the Florida Educational Equity Act, 1984.
- The requirements of Title IX, Education Amendments of 1972.
- The requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
- The requirements set forth in Florida's System of School Improvement and Accountability, 1996.
- The requirements set forth in Section 233.058, Florida Statutes.
- The requirements set forth in Rules 6A-6.0900 - 6A-4.0909. F.A.C.
These assurances are signed by the district superintendent and attached to the District ELL Plan. By signing this document the school district certifies that they will abide by the requirements of the laws and jurisprudence listed above.
