Education Information and Accountability Services (EIAS)

aims to improve education by increasing the quality of decisions through the use of data. Bureau functions and services include: assisting school districts in the reporting of accurate information, providing information to meet the needs of customers, fulfilling DOE Information Database reporting requirements, and reviewing and developing data collection procedures. EIAS produces a wide variety of data-rich publications about K-12 education in Florida many of which are available on their Web site.

Community College and Technical Center Management Information Services (CCTCMIS)

is responsible for the collection and reporting of all data pertaining to the operation of community colleges, and adult continuing, workforce and vocational education reported by the public school district technical centers. This information is used to generate state and federal level reports, supply data to the Department of Education (DOE) Data Warehouse, provide for system Accountability, generate Performance Based Budgeting, and provide support to the Florida Legislature and the Florida State Board of Education.

Information Resource Management Division of Colleges and Universities (IRMDCU)

is the primary provider of the data that is used to make sound education policy decisions concerning the state universities. This information flow is a critical component of the Department of Education Data Warehouse and other major education management information systems.

Florida Education and Training Placement Information Program (FETPIP)

is a data collection system that obtains follow-up data on former students and others. The information includes employment, continuing postsecondary education, military, public assistance participation, and incarceration data.

K-20 Education Data Warehouse (EDW)

provides stakeholders in public education-including, but not limited to, administrators, educators, parents, students, state leadership, and professional organizations-with the capability of receiving timely, efficient, consistent responses to inquiries into Florida's Kindergarten through University education.

Office of Articulation

provides the leadership, information, and support needed for students to successfully progress through Florida's education system. Information available on their Web site includes The Statewide Course Numbering System, The Articulation Coordinating Committee. In addition, several publications covering dual enrollment and college readiness are available.

The Office of Equity and Access (OEA)

ensures diversity and inclusion in the Florida K-20 public education system by providing effective leadership, the highest quality technical assistance and training, and compliance monitoring. Key efforts also will include coordination of a wide array of services to provide a K-20 educational environment that is free of bias, stereotyping, and discrimination. The basic underpinning of the Office of Equity and Access is the coordination of statewide efforts to remove barriers to academic and student support services as well as barriers to employment opportunities in the public education workforce.

The Office of Policy Research and Improvement (OPRI)

conducts research and data analysis on emerging educational issues. The Office provides the Commissioner of Education with information necessary in recommending legislation and State Board rules to improve education in Florida.

OPRI assists in implementing the Commissioner's strategic plan for education by identifying effective policies for improved student performance and safe learning environments for Florida's students, teachers, and school staff. OPRI Research activities generally include two types of projects:

Short-term research to provide information about current education topics and education reform; and
In-depth studies which provide a more comprehensive picture of a policy, program, or trend.

For many research projects, the office establishes and coordinates teams, drawing on the expertise in and outside the department. Findings are published as reports, information briefs, and technical assistance documents.

The Commission for Independent Education

has statutory responsibilities in matters relating to nonpublic, postsecondary, educational institutions. In keeping with the Florida Department of Education's goal of producing a seamless educational system, some of these functions include consumer protection, program improvement, institutional policies and administration, data management, and the licensure of independent schools, colleges and universities.

SERVE

is an education organization with the mission to promote and support the continuous improvement of educational opportunities for all learners in the Southeast. The organization’s commitment to continuous improvement is manifest in an applied research-to-practice model that drives all of its work. Building on theory and craft knowledge, SERVE staff develop tools and processes designed to assist practitioners and policymakers with their work, ultimately, to raise the level of student achievement in the region. Evaluation of the impact of these activities combined with input from affected stakeholders expands SERVE’s knowledge base and informs future research.

FACTS.org

is Florida's official online student advising system! High school students, college students, parents, and even counselors can use the services provided on this Web site to help plan and track educational progress in Florida! FACTS.org is provided free by the Florida Department of Education to help students make informed choices about their education.
