If you fail one or more tests or subtests taken at a paper-based test administration, you may request that your test be handscored. Computer-based tests cannot be handscored. If your subtest included a performance component, only the multiple-choice portion of the test or subtest will be handscored. Performance components will not be rescored because they have already been reviewed and rated by at least two raters during the scoring process. Handscoring for performance components verifies that the ratings assigned were recorded correctly.
When you receive your official score report in the mail, you will also receive a Score Interpretation Guide. The guide contains a handscoring request form. Return the completed form with a $10 payment to the FTCE/FELE program address provided on the form. Your request must be received by the FTCE/FELE program office within 30 calendar days after score reports are mailed.
Score Verification Sessions
If you fail one or more computer-based or paper-based tests or subtests, you may request an appointment for a score verification session. Sessions are held at selected computer-based testing centers and appointments are available on weekdays and on Saturdays. These sessions are not intended as study sessions for future tests; they are for the purpose of allowing examinees to confirm correct scoring of their exams.During the score verification session, you will have an opportunity to challenge test items that you believe have a scoring error. All challenges will be reviewed by the Department, and you will receive a response in approximately 30 days. If you do not agree with the Department’s response, you will have an opportunity to request an administrative hearing in accordance with the provisions of Section 120.57, Florida Statutes.
If you fail one or more tests or subtests, you will receive information with your official score report about score verification sessions, including the deadlines for requesting an appointment and information about registration and fees.
Requesting a session. Requests for an appointment for a score verification session can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you register, you will be sent an admission ticket by e-mail, which will indicate the exact date, time, and location of your score verification session.
Payment. There is a nonrefundable $25 charge to attend a score verification session. Payment must be made at the time of registration using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard only) or a debit or check card that carries the VISA or MasterCard logo and can be used without the entry of a personal identification number (PIN).
