Setting and Aligning Standards/Benchmarks for Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program
Panel of Experts
Building on the success of the 2005 VPK Education Standards development process, the Department began the revision process for the 2008 VPK Education Standards by convening a Panel of Experts’ Meeting in December 2007. This meeting brought together stakeholders from across the state, as well as nationally known early childhood content experts, specifically in the area of mathematics. As a result of the meeting, the Cognitive Development and General Knowledge domain in the VPK Education Standards (2005) was separated into two domains, Mathematical and Scientific Thinking and Social Studies and The Arts. Benchmarks were added to the Mathematical Thinking component.
