Satisfying Subject Specialization
To qualify for a Temporary Certificate, you must meet subject area specialization in at least one subject for which you apply. These are the options available by which you must meet specialization for a Florida Temporary Certificate.
- Meet the degree or course requirements listed in State Board Rule for the subject area
- For certain bachelor's level subjects, earn a passing score on the appropriate Florida Subject Area Examination in the subject for which you apply
- Hold a valid standard certificate in the subject area applied for from a US state or territory (the certificate must be comparable to the Florida certificate in the same subject)
- Hold a valid certificate in the subject area applied for issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (See Chart) or the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence
