Services
On-Site Training and Technical Assistance
The Office of Equity and Access (OEA) provides training and skills-building workshops for Florida schools, school districts, community colleges, universities, parents, students and community groups on a wide range of topics dealing with race, gender, national origin, disability, age and marital status.
OEA will design individualized training and activities to meet local needs.
Sample topics include:
- Gender Equity in Athletics
- Strategies to Improve Student Self-image and Achievement
- Sexual Harassment
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504
- Using Data for Decision Making
- Effects of Bias and Stereotyping
- Teaching/Learning Styles and Cultural Diversity
- Methods and Strategies to Improve Representation
- Equal Employment Opportunity
Consultative Services
The Office of Equity and Access (OEA) provides a wide range of consultative services to Florida schools, school districts, community colleges, universities, parents, students and community groups on policies, procedures and practices for civil rights compliance and equity in education. Consultative services range from answering questions on the telephone to developing and delivering a training package to address your specific needs.
Sample topics include:
- Policy and procedures-design and evaluation
- Needs assessment
- Employment and admissions forms-design and evaluation
- Design of computer recordkeeping and analysis of equity data
- Design of data analysis models for monitoring effects of local equity strategies
- Admissions/exit criteria-design and evaluation
- Desegregation assistance
- Research based decision making
