NASDSE Professional Development Series 2008 - 2009

Friday October 10, 2008: 1-3pm ET. News You Can Use: Resources and Supports for Students with Autism and their Families.
At the top of everyone’s list of critical issues to address, autism is a topic of growing concern for educators and families. In this conference you will hear from leaders in the field of education and autism on the implementation of programs and resources available.

Friday December 5, 2008: 1-3pm ET. Partners in Progress: Youth/Young Adult Leaders for Systems Change.
For a number of years, NASDSE and the IDEA Partnership at NASDSE have worked to involve young adult leaders with disabilities in the decisions that ultimately impact their lives and the lives of their peers. This conference will showcase a variety of state-based, youth-led activities that affect systems change at the classroom, state and national levels.

Friday March 20, 2009: 1-3pm ET. From Computers to Classrooms: Tackling Bullying in Today’s Schools.
In today’s school climate, bullying has moved outside the classroom and the playground into cyberspace. With all students at risk, learn about the social and educational impact of bullying and the programs and the programs and policies in place to combat them.

Friday May 1, 2009: 1-3pm ET. Understanding the Big Picture: Federal Policy and its Impact on the Classroom.
NASDSE’s director of government relations facilitates a discussion of recent and upcoming federal policy changes, how they affect the classroom and what to expect from the new Administration.
