The Office of Grants Management manages and processes state and federal grant awards to school districts, community colleges, universities and community-based organizations. This office provides administrative and operational support to program managers including receipt and technical review, tracking, budget review, and distribution and file maintenance of all projects awarded by the Department of Education.

Grants Management Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with development of Request For Proposal /Request For Application (RFP/RFA) and Pre-Approval Funding Plan during development stage
  • Provide technical review of funding proposals; tracking; assigning Tracking Application System (TAPS) numbers, project numbers; Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) coding
  • Provide application support or assistance – including statewide or regional meetings, memoranda, on-site meetings, videoconferencing; telephone technical assistance
  • Distribution of Application Package - acknowledging receipt of application packages; conducting initial intake; conducting initial acceptance review for determination of applications' conditions of acceptance
  • Application Review and Approval - DOE 200 (Award Notification) preparation; certification of accuracy of application package
  • Funding Authorization and Distribution of Award Notification – verification of final authorization (Federal awards received or Governor’s release of reserves)
  • Project award distribution - agency mail-outs, Comptroller, and program office distribution

The following are some, but not all, of the programs that are processed through this office: NCLB Title I Basic, Migrant, Neglected and Delinquent, Reading First, Reading Coaches Model, Research Based Reading, Title II Technology, Comprehensive School Reform, Safe and Drug Free Schools, Governors Mentoring Initiative, Florida Mentor Teacher School Pilot Program, Public Broadcasting Projects, Teacher Training and Recruiting, Alternative, Exceptional and Pre-school Programs, Education Innovation, Chartered Schools, Technology and Professional Development, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, and Vocational, Secondary, Instructional and Postsecondary Programs.
