Broad Foundation’s 2008 Broad Prize for Urban Education Press Release
Below is quote from Florida Education Commissioner Eric J. Smith regarding this announcement.
"My congratulations to Superintendent Rudy Crew, the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Superintendent James Notter, the School Board of Broward County and all the students and teachers in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties on their selection as finalists for this prestigious award," said Education Commissioner Eric J. Smith. "Today’s announcement from the Broad Foundation is a testament to the amazing progress Florida schools have made, especially in terms of closing the achievement gap, and follows similar accolades Florida has received from Education Week’s Quality Counts report and the College Board Report to the Nation. I am proud of the work our schools are doing to ensure all of Florida’s students have a bright future ahead."
